Veteran's Administration Hospital Campus Courtyard - Tomah, Wisconsin
R.A. Smith National completed a master site plan in collaboration with Chequamegon Bay Engineering of Ashland, Wis. for a large courtyard at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital Campus in Tomah, Wis. The large, underutilized courtyard area is framed by large, red brick hospital buildings and connector halls which set the stage for an expansive, outdoor space that will include a three-hole, ADA-accessible mini golf course, a large dining deck and stage area, rehabilitation activity areas, picnic shelters, raised gardens, patios, a water feature and a labyrinth.
The design team worked closely with hospital staff, therapists, and facilities managers to develop concept plans, alternatives, a final master plan, and a series of 3D renderings. A full laser scan of the entire courtyard was performed by R.A. Smith National to provide accurate point clouds of the buildings and existing conditions, which were used to develop the courtyard renderings.
The landscape architects at R.A. Smith National provided site planning, design of the site structures and amenities, and the color renderings and vignettes.
