Froedtert Hospital Pedestrian Bridge

Wauwatosa, WI

Project Overview

Froedtert Hospital is constructing a new 10-story patient tower and parking structure on its main campus in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. raSmith’s survey services division provided static LiDAR scanning services to CSE (Construction Supply & Erection, Inc.) for a new 305-foot long, three-span pedestrian bridge to connect the new patient tower with a new parking structure. The scope of the work included scanning for dimensions between the columns, collecting as-built measurements from the top of the supporting columns to the bridge, and locating embeds for connections to the existing concrete parking structure. As-built drawings were created from the scanned data and provided to the client for the fabrication of the girders. When the girders arrived on site, raSmith’s survey team measured the two large sections to make sure they were the correct dimensions before they were welded and put in place with a crane.
