Join Us at the 2025 STEM Expo!

February 11, 2025

This year’s STEM Expo will take place on February 22, 2025, at the UW-Milwaukee Student Union. raSmith is proud to be the Hallmark Sponsor, and the ASCE Younger Member Group is excited to partner with raSmith and many other local companies and organizations to host another great event!

The STEM Expo is designed to expose kids and students, primarily grades K-12, to science, technology, engineering, and math through a variety of activities. From hands-on experiments to engaging demonstrations and make-and-take projects, there’s something for everyone! This year, more than 25 percent of the activities will be provided by outside sponsors, including local businesses and organizations.

This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required. It will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and attendees are welcome to come and go as they please. The UWM Student Union has even opened the Union Station and Gasthaus for visitors who might like to grab a bite to eat during the expo.

If you don’t fall within the K-12 age group but would still like to participate, we would love to have you as a volunteer! Scan the QR code to sign up. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and lunch; no prior knowledge is required. We will provide detailed instructions for all events. It’s a fantastic opportunity to teach kids and students how STEM can be hands-on and fun.

Here are just a few of the fun, educational activities we’ll have this year:

Protect Your Eggstronaut — Kids will receive a bag of materials to create a protective structure for a real (uncooked) egg. Once they believe their egg is properly protected, they will place it back into the bag and drop the egg from a six-foot ladder to see if it survives the fall. This activity teaches kids about gravity and energy transfer!

Color Creation — Kids will use coffee filters to design their “butterflies.” When dipped in water, they can watch as the colors bleed into a beautiful, unique pattern that is all their own. Once the filter has dried, we will use pipe cleaners to transform it into a butterfly they can take home.

Over 40 different activities will represent all areas of STEM. This year’s STEM Expo is shaping up to be our best yet, and we can’t wait to see everyone there!
