Project Overview
The City of St. Francis had identified the need for five related transportation improvements in and around their industrial area. These improvements would directly benefit Wixon Industries, Inc., other industries in the industrial area as well as future businesses and industries looking to locate in the City of St. Francis.
raSmith provided guidance, grant writing and overall project coordination to assist the City in securing a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The TEA grant was applied to a three-phase project that included an extension of Nevada Avenue, closure of Bolivar Avenue and closure of Brust Avenue. Project coordination and collaboration occurred between the City, General Mitchell International Airport and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The project goal was to provide better transportation routes for industrial park traffic and spur economic growth. In addition to providing grant writing and project coordination, raSmith designed the roadway and utility infrastructure improvements.
