Project Overview
It’s called a renaissance on the Front Range.
At the foot of the Rockies – the Front Range – Fort Collins is the business center of northern Colorado and home to Colorado State University. Reinvigorating a 1970s shopping mall, Alberta Development Partners sought raSmith’s shopping center site engineering and design expertise to reconfigure the tight and blighted 77-acre site into Foothills, Renaissance on the Front Range: a shopping, dining, events and entertainment destination.
Imperative to the site’s rehabilitation was creating better public transportation access to the shopping center. It was important to link the center with the MAX Bus Rapid Transit center and a new youth activity center located across the six-lane College Avenue. raSmith creatively rerouted an irrigation ditch and converted the abandoned ditch as an underpass for pedestrians and bicyclists, providing access without having to cross traffic.
