Project Overview
Washington County retained raSmith to design a single-lane rural roundabout at the County Highway P intersection with County Highway PV. The project used Federal Hazard Elimination and Safety (HES) funds under the WisDOT Local Program. The intersection is located immediately adjacent to the County fairgrounds. Accommodating peak special event traffic was a major factor in the design process.
The project began with an alternatives analysis comparing the existing four-way stop condition to traffic signals and a roundabout. raSmith’s responsibilities included Rodel traffic analysis, geometric layout, pavement marking, vertical design, public involvement meetings, Design Study Report, environmental documentation, and preliminary and final plan production and documentation.
