Primary Responsibilities
- Organize and manage structural design efforts for multiple simultaneous projects while maintaining project budgets. Manage and review structural engineering drawings for assigned projects/work assignments including the preparation of plans, schedules, and details.
- Review structural systems of primarily cold-formed steel framing for a variety of health care, commercial, retail, multi-family residential, industrial, and institutional buildings nationwide and review structural calculations for submittal
- Manage engineers and CAD/BIM technicians to produce shop drawings, calculations, and BIM models
- Assist with training and mentoring team members
- Communicate with clients and maintain project schedules and design budgets
- Help lead business development efforts for cold-formed projects to develop and manage a portfolio of clients
- Perform and lead the structural design of various building design projects. This includes development of structural design documents, calculations, and specifications.
- Perform construction administration duties
- Other duties, as assigned

Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering from a U.S.-accredited college or university
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in structural design of cold-formed steel building structures. Some experience with oversight is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of cold-formed steel design and strong working knowledge of AISI standards
- Have the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex problems
- Leadership mentality and ability to work well with others
- Professional engineer licensure required; Illinois structural engineer licensure preferred or willingness to obtain
- Working knowledge of various structural analysis and design programs including CFS Designer & RISA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Applicable U.S.-based work experience

Primary Responsibilities
- Work with the Naperville office team to prepare civil engineering designs and obtain approval on projects ranging from retail shopping centers and restaurants, K-12 school improvements, and industrial development. This work would include site due diligence and layout, grading and utility design, and stormwater management calculations.
- Multi-disciplinary work with the larger raSmith company including survey, structural, transportation, and landscape architecture departments to provide the clients with a full suite of private development services
- Responsibilities also include representing the firm at meetings with client, owner, or agencies during the design and construction process
- Other duties, as assigned

Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from a U.S.-accredited college or university
- 8-12 years of progressive experience in land development design and civil engineering including grading, utility, and stormwater design
- Experience permitting with Illinois agencies such as DuPage County, MWRD, IEPA, IDOT, etc.
- Attention to detail and self-initiative
- Ability to delegate tasks to team members
- Advanced technical writing and oral communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software is needed
- Applicable U.S.-based work experience

- Assessing project requirements and developing a sound approach to meet the needs of the project and the client, and stamp and sign surveys as Surveyor in Responsible Charge for property surveys
- Prepare and review proposals, budgets, and invoices as well as acting as a mentor to other survey team members and providing training, as needed. WisDOT survey and right-of-way plat experience is preferred.
- This person is also involved with maintaining client relationships and supervising compliance with specifications

Skills and Requirements
- A Wisconsin P.L.S is required
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a project manager
- Five (5) years of field survey experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office software is also needed
- A Bachelor of Science degree in survey or civil engineering from a U.S.-accredited college or university is preferred
- Appliable U.S.-based work experience
