Matthew Stangel has joined raSmith — a multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — in Brookfield, Wis., as an ecologist. Stangel is providing wetland and ecological services with an emphasis on providing environmental reviews and permitting services.
Stangel’s experience includes project management and construction of a variety of ecological restoration projects including stream bank reconstruction, erosion control, herbicide application and others. His experience further includes soil sampling, water quality monitoring, and groundwater conservation efforts. Stangel has gained diverse experience in the water resources and ecological fields including working for a private consultant as well as interning for a nature conservancy and NEW Water (Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District).
Stangel holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in environmental geography and a master’s degree in freshwater sciences and technology, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
