Project Overview
Retailer Cabela’s sought a new store in Ashwaubenon, Wis., and once again teamed with raSmith to make the store happen. We may lead with engineering, but our multi-faceted, in-house team on the project also includes landscape architects, irrigation designers, surveyors and ecologists.
Designing a site plan for a 100,000-square-foot retail store is definitely not easy when two wetlands and high groundwater exist on the property. To overcome these highly complex environmental limitations, the team collaboratively determined that an underground stormwater detention system would be an excellent solution. A large retaining wall that reduced wetland impacts also became part of the plan. The team’s resulting hard work and dedication to this Green Bay-area store was another successful win for Cabela’s.
