Project Overview
In collaboration with Black & Veatch and other stakeholders, raSmith provided construction management and observation along with civil engineering services to support the Great Water Alliance project in Waukesha. A new sustainable supply of drinking water is being sourced from Lake Michigan as a better, long-term solution that replaced Waukesha’s groundwater supply.
This project included the construction of a pipeline to supply the water from Milwaukee to Waukesha, a return pipeline to carry treated water back to Lake Michigan via the Root River, pumping stations, concrete reservoirs, and an outfall facility along the Root River. raSmith provided oversight on horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and open-cut installation for each pipeline, water tower and reservoir site grading and construction, resident engineer and construction management, and other project-related construction services.
This project received a 2022 Concrete Design Award from the Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association (WRMCA) for the booster pumping station.
