Project Overview
The site design team at raSmith is proud to be working with The Ability Center on the master plan of an all-inclusive project—Moss Universal Park in Wauwatosa. This park will feature active and passive recreational opportunities for people of ALL ages and abilities regardless of physical ability or cognitive skills. The park will include a trail system with various destination exercise stations and distance markers within a beautiful, wooded setting. There will be an active recreation complex with ballfields, play areas, and rehabilitation areas that are all-inclusive so people with or without physical limitations can interact, play, and participate in activities together.
raSmith and The Ability Center are collaborating with Milwaukee County Parks, Hoppe Tree Service, the YMCA, and GameTime to develop the master plan. The design team has worked hard to retain and protect many of the existing, beautiful, mature hardwood trees in the park by allowing the design to evolve based on “ground-truthing” the proposed features and amenities. The team has also met with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) to discuss potential grant-funding opportunities to help make this project a reality.
