Project Overview
Campus Park is an exciting multi-phase, multi-use, active and passive park in the heart of Mount Pleasant in Racine County. As part of the park’s expansion, six outdoor pickleball courts were installed to enhance the recreational opportunities for the community.
Pickleball is among the fastest-growing sports today, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and Ping-Pong on a badminton-sized court. Originally, this park space was allocated for two tennis courts. However, the Village of Mount Pleasant changed the designated area to six pickleball courts because of increased enthusiasm, usage, and the opportunity to add more sport courts in the same space. The courts offer daily recreation, rentals, and competitive tournaments for park visitors.
raSmith collaborated with the Village to provide project manual and bidding services along with construction inspection for this successful project. The construction services included the inspection of grading, stone, paving, and court markings; construction staking and administration; and site visits throughout construction to ensure the work progressed on schedule and within budget. After the project bidding on June 2, 2021, raSmith worked with the selected contractor to meet a tight deadline and complete the project before the Village’s Labor Day event.
