Project Overview
Long-time raSmith client Gorman & Company specializes in revitalizing communities in areas that include downtown revitalization, preservation of affordable housing, workforce housing, and adaptive reuse of significant historic buildings.
raSmith has provided surveying services to Gorman for more than 200 sites. We have also provided site design services for numerous sites.
A few representative projects for which raSmith has provided land surveying and/or site design services in Milwaukee include Sherman Park Commons, Metcalfe Park Homes, Brewhouse Inn & Suites, Blue Ribbon Lofts and Mitchell Wagon Factory, among others.
The Mitchell Wagon Factory Lofts in Racine, Wis., are particularly unique. This redevelopment illustrates the adaptive reuse of a historic factory that built renowned covered wagons during the Civil War. The factory was reinvented into 100 live-work apartments that cover more than five acres of floor space. Designed as live-work spaces for artists, the building’s amenities include an on-site darkroom, kiln and fitness center.
