Project Overview
The landscape architects and water resource engineers at raSmith were invited to collaborate with HGA Architects and Engineers (Milwaukee) on the Phase 1 schematic design for new projects on the 379-acre nature preserve in Newburg. As a response to increased programmatic needs, the nature center commissioned projects in this phase to include a new education and multi-purpose building, remote outdoor classroom and storm shelter, and a pedestrian-scaled suspension bridge over the Milwaukee River.
raSmith will be providing technical advice on site planning, rainfall harvesting and integration, green infrastructure, sustainability, landscape restoration, floodplain modeling/permitting and bridge design.
The schematic design of the new facilities will be used for ongoing fundraising efforts to build the various projects over a multi-year timeline.
