Project Overview
The landscape architects at raSmith collaborated with City of Portage staff and stakeholders to develop plans, image boards, details and alternatives for streetscape, lighting, pavement treatments, site amenities and furnishings, and tree plantings for the historic downtown district.
The goal of the project was to provide several options to enhance the downtown shopping area and to reflect the culture and history of Portage. Through a series of stakeholder meetings and presentations, the raSmith team developed a set of preferred alternatives and cost estimates based on the input from the City stakeholders. The project will be implemented during the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s reconstruction of WIS 33/16, pending historic grants funding.
