Project Overview
raSmith provided structural engineering for Waunakee Community School District – Heritage Elementary School. The new elementary school will provide students with an environment designed to maximize learning. The 152,000-square-foot facility features larger classrooms, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) area, specialized spaces for early childhood and kindergarten students, and flex cafes for each grade level. The implementation of flex cafes – individual cafeteria spaces for grades 1 to 4 instead of one large, shared space – helps to maximize the efficiency of the space as each grade can use the smaller space for any activities they may need extra room for during the day.
