Project Overview
As a subconsultant to Lakeside Engineers, raSmith provided traffic analysis and roundabout design services for the WIS 57/Teutonia Avenue intersection. The existing intersection had unusual geometry, leading to safety and operational concerns. A multi-lane roundabout was identified as the preferred solution to address these intersection deficiencies.
Multiple alternatives were designed and analyzed to address heavy right- and left-turn volumes from some approaches. A bypass lane was added to one leg to address heavy right-turn volumes and approaching lane continuity issues. raSmith also assisted in plan production, offering design expertise on final plans, specifications, and Civil 3D modeling on the roundabout aspects of the final plans.
